Southeast Missouri State University
Southeast Missouri State University is a larger campus that still offers all of the amenities of a small university. With over 10,000 students enrolled at SEMO students will be able to enjoy the luxury of meeting new people while continuing their education.
Academics
While SEMO does have a larger number of students, their student to faculty ratio is still rather small, standing at 17:1. The average class size is about 25 to 30 students, giving each student a chance to get the personal attention that they need. There are more than 150 different areas of study available at Southeast Missouri State University and each one incorporates a hands on learning component designed to put studies into a real life atmosphere. The technological advances seen throughout the university do spill into class choice. Online classes are available, as are classes that feature pod or vod-casts which allow students to see and hear what is going on in the classroom. Another interesting fact when it comes to technology at SEMO is the fact that there are over 3,000 computers available for use across the campus. While at Southeast Missouri State University you will be able to earn your Bachelor's, Master's, or even a doctorate degree. There are also specialized degrees and certificates that can be earned at SEMO. Study abroad programs are also available for students who are looking to broaden their cultural horizons. Textbook rental and a large library also give students the opportunity to make use of free resource available on campus.
Athletics
Southeast Missouri State University is a Division I school that competes in the Ohio Valley Conference. With fourteen different sports opportunities ranging from football to gymnastics all student athletes will be able to participate in athletics with the highest degree of competition. SEMO is known for their athletic prowess and has dominated in the OVC for many years. The Redhawks have a loyal legion of fans that pack the stadium for all of the athletic events sponsored by the university.
Campus Organizations
There are well over 150 student organizations and groups available at SEMO. Whether you are looking to involve yourself with campus ministries or take part in athletics, there is something for you here. Fraternities and sororities are always looking for new members. There is also the ROTC and the special Family Weekend practice that allows students staying on campus to invite their families to see their second home for a weekend.
